A woman says she could be forced to leave High Wycombe and has resorted to "begging" landlords because she cannot find a place to live that will allow her to keep her beloved pets.

Laurene Hope Omedal said that trying to find a place to rent in High Wycombe has been a "nightmare" and that, after ten years of living in the town, she might have to leave due to a lack of houses that allow pets.

The 57-year-old is now creating a support group for those in a similar situation and is urging those affected to get in touch.

Mrs Omedal, the founder of Moving On TV, lives with her husband and two cats - Peace and Ellie - in Fair Ridge.

In October, she was told that her landlord needed the property back and since then she and her husband have been trying to find somewhere else to live.

Mrs Omedal said she has a Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and the stress caused by the search for properties has taken its toll.

She said: "It’s causing us so much stress. BPD is a condition aggravated from stress. I have been very well for four years now.

"The pressure that this has been putting on me and my husband is unbelievable and I am relapsing. I have been having night terrors and panic attacks."

She added: "We haven’t been able to find a two bedroom house for two people because we have cats.

"There are no properties at all. No local landlords in High Wycombe will accept animals and there are people that won’t accept children."

Since October the couple have only seen a couple of properties that accept pets - and both were snapped up.

Mrs Omedal said they have got until the end of June to find somewhere to live.

She is calling for people in a similar situation to get in touch.

She said: "Pets are very important for people with mental health issues. They are important for everyone.

"I don’t want to leave High Wycombe. We are looking for somewhere safe. I know they exist. We are fed up -it’s kind of like begging now.

"I want people who have gone through this so we can find out what’s going on. My campaign will be called ‘no lets with pets or kids’."
