A man was headbutted and repeatedly stamped on in High Wycombe after trying to help a woman who had been dragged to the ground by her hair during a shocking attack.

Four people were left injured after the frenzied assault outside McDonalds in the High Street at about 3.20am Sunday morning.

Investigators say an altercation broke out between the offender and a 28-year-old man, after a 27-year-old woman was approached near to a Kebab van in the road.

A fight then continued on a footpath along the side of McDonalds between St Pauls Row and High Street and the offender pulled the 27-year-old woman to the ground by her hair.

He then headbutted the male victim, and pushed a 20-year-old woman.

The offender continued assaulting the male victim, punching him to the ground, stamping on him several times, before the offender was dragged away by another man, police said.

Investigating officer, PC Alex Wardlaw based at High Wycombe police station, said: “This assault took place in the middle of High Wycombe, when a number of people will have been going home from their nights out.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen what happened by the kebab vans on the High Street.

“The offender is white with a tanned complexion, 20 to 25-years old, with medium length light brown hair, described as shaggy. He has dark stubble and was wearing a black polo shirt, black trousers and black shoes.”

He added: “I would like to speak to another man who stepped in to help the woman who was pulled to the ground in the walkway.

“This man is mixed race, broadly built, with short black hair, and was wearing a black T-shirt and dark trousers.

“He also had a dark coat. I am hoping he will come forward as I believe he may have important information regarding this incident.

“I would add that disorder like this will not be tolerated by police in High Wycombe.”

The 28-year-old victim sustained cuts and bruises and hand injuries and the 27-year-old woman received cuts and bruises to her arms.

Another man, who is thought to have intervened in the assault, and the 20-year-old woman were also treated for minor injuries. They have all been discharged from hospital.
