An elderly man died in a High Wycombe pub this week.

Staff at The William Robert Loosely pub, in Oxford Road, have paid tribute to the man, while praising those who tried to help him before ambulance crews arrived at about 1.15pm on Monday.

The Buckinghamshire Coroners Court have been unable to release details of the man, including his name, age and cause of death, at this time.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We can confirm that an elderly gentleman unfortunately passed away following an incident at The William Robert Loosley pub in High Wycombe.

“The gentleman in question was eating a meal with his wife when she alerted staff that he was choking.

“A member of staff went over to him immediately and another phoned for the ambulance.

“The ambulance crew gave instructions to the member of staff over the phone so that CPR could be carried out on the man in the pub.

“The member of staff carried out CPR in the pub.

“The ambulance crew arrived around five minutes later and attended to the man in the pub and then took him to hospital. We were informed that he had passed away.”

He added: “We would like to pass on our condolences to the wife, family and friends of the gentleman.

“We would also pay tribute to our staff and the ambulance crew for their efforts to save the man’s life.”
