A well-known pub in High Wycombe, which had almost £1,000 worth of alcohol stolen last week, has thanked the community for their support.

About 40 bottles of spirit worth approximately £825 were taken from the Bootlegger pub in Amersham Hill between about 4.50am and 6.10am on Tuesday 12 January.

The offenders entered the pub after forcing open a cellar door at the back of the premises and tried, unsuccessfully, to access the tills.

It is believed offenders carried the bottles in large duffle bags from the premise towards Amersham Hill.

Spencer Goddard, general manager of the Bootlegger, said: “The CCTV is pretty good so we are just waiting for an ID now.

“It was a lot of alcohol that was stolen so it is likely that someone knows something about it.

“There has been a great response from the general public and I can assure our customers that they have nothing to worry about, we are still fully stocked.”

CCTV images were released of two men who police want to speak to in connection with the burglary.
