A former Bucks Free Press photographer who pledged to run three marathons in three weeks for charity, is gearing up for the final leg of his fundraiser by running in the London Marathon on Sunday.

Matt Fowler, 47, from High Wycombe, completed his second marathon in Brighton last Sunday (April 17) in three hours, 34 minutes, a week after recording a personal best in Manchester of three hours, 16 minutes.

The father-of-two, nicknamed ‘The Bald Runner’, who is raising money for South Bucks Hospice, said he hopes the public will back him in raising thousands for hospice patients.

He said: “The charity is building a new community hospice in Totteridge right now and needs every penny it can get to help give the best possible care to patients."

Matt’s epic challenge has also received the “enthusiastic backing” of Wycombe District Council Chairman Cllr Ian McEnnis and South Bucks District Council chairman Cllr Duncan Smith.

Jo Woolf, chief executive at South Bucks Hospice, said: "Everyone here is so proud of Matt and what he's doing on behalf of our patients, and we're all cheering him on."

He has been documenting his challenge in a blog on the BFP website at www.bucksfreepress.com.
