A charity could receive a year’s backing from a major retailer under a community help scheme.

Sainsbury’s on Oxford Road in High Wycombe is looking for a new charity to support from the area as part of its Local Charity of the Year scheme.

The winning charity will receive year-long support from the supermarket, which includes fundraising and raising awareness of the work it does. The scheme has raised over £9million over the last seven years and helped thousands of charities across the UK.

Store manager Bob Knock said they were keen to hear from charities they had not supported in the past, adding: “There are so many fantastic charities in the local area who do brilliant work in our community.”

The supermarket giant will put together a shortlist of potential charities over the next few months and customers will vote for their favourites between June 13 – 26 in stores and online.

To apply, register your interest at the customer service desk or kiosk at Sainsbury’s, Oxford Road. Nominations close on May 9.
