A High Wycombe care home has been given a seal of approval by a national care watchdog.

Care UK’s Catherine Court care home on Cressex Road received an overall ‘good’ rating following a visit in March by the Care Quality Commission, an independent regulator of health and social care in England.

Inspectors examined the care home, which provides specialist care for older people and people with dementia, against a number of key areas such as how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led the service was. They also looked at its administrative systems and processes.

The report said people using the care home were supported by staff who were “kind, caring and respectful” and relatives they spoke to were “complimentary” about the staff.

Inspectors also observed how people were supported “in a person-centred way” and the “positive interactions” between staff and residents.

The report went on to say staff members were “attentive to people’s needs” and recognised when people needed assistance or reassurance.

Manager Temby Nyemba said: “Everyone at Catherine Court strives to ensure that we create genuinely individual care for each resident.

“To do that, we ensure we get to know each person, their history and their interests, so that we can tailor each care plan to maintain their independence, life skills and sense of wellbeing.

“I am delighted that we reached the high standard set out by the Government and CQC and I was even more delighted that the inspectors highlighted how the team works to respect people's dignity and independence.”
