A new chairman is set to take the helm at Wycombe District Council next week after being nominated by councillors.

Conservative councillor, Mahboob Hussain, is currently WDC vice-chairman but is set to take the chains from Cllr Ian McEnnis on Tuesday evening.

He is set to be officially nominated and confirmed at the annual council after being given the nod at private meetings.

Cllr Hussain will be joined in his new role by former mayor of Marlow, Cllr Suzanne Brown, as she looks set to be appointed as vice-chairman, despite only being a member of the district council for one year following the 2015 election.

If normal protocol continues, Cllr Brown would be expected to take up the role of chairman next year.

The chairman of WDC is a largely ceremonial role, with both members expected to attend numerous events, while also chairing full council meetings.

Cllr McEnnis will step down following a successful year, which has seen him involved in many community events, including the opening of the £25 million Wycombe Leisure Centre.

Other official appointments will also be ratified on the night, as the current leaders of each political party looks set to stay the same, with Cllr Katrina Wood keeping her role as Conservative and council leader.

There is also unlikely to be any changes to cabinet positions.
