A family who have gone through a “rollercoaster” eight weeks looking for their beloved missing dog – including several hoax kidnap calls – have now reached over a million people in their desperate search.

Maggie, a six-year-old cockapoo, went missing from the home of owners Gemma Marcham and James Martin in Downs Park, Downley, nearly two months ago.

The efforts to find her have led to a huge social media campaign, with a ‘Thunderclap’ social media message being seen by more than a million people across the UK.

But despite several supposed sightings, the family – who have two children – are no closer to finding their prized pooch.

And to make matters worse, Gemma says she has received calls demanding money – which have proved to be false.

She said: “We are now eight weeks since Maggie went missing.

“I have had several hoax calls demanding money, and supposed sightings, this has been so upsetting and like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but thankfully the majority of people have been wonderful and supportive.

“Although the amount of support on the social media is incredible, we are also aware of all the people who are not connected to social media, and these are the people we are desperate to hear about our plight.

“We are crossing our fingers as we are desperate to get our little dog back with her family where she belongs, and if she is local someone might just know something and get in touch when they see how desperate we are to get her home.”
