Students, teachers and parents had “much to celebrate” on A-Level results day this morning at Wycombe High School, according to head teacher Sharon Cromie.

Overall, 75 per cent of all grades at the school in Marlow Road were A* to B, 44 per cent were A* to A and 37 per cent of students achieved at least three A* to A grades.

Student Amber Edwards, 18, from High Wycombe got an A* and three As, helping to secure her place at Cambridge to study Geography.

She said: “I’m so excited, I can’t believe it’s real.”

Speaking about her interview at Cambridge, she told the BFP it was “different” to what she expected but “worth it” and said she and her family cried when they saw her results.

She added: “We were all so excited and in disbelief because you never think you’re going to get there, and now the day’s here.”

She says she will spend the rest of the summer relaxing and celebrating her results.

Rebecca Parfett celebrated getting two A*s and an A, and said she was thrilled to get the grades to study medicine at the University of East Anglia.

She said: “I’m just so happy, I thought I was going to fail.

“It’s been really stressful because you have to get such high grades and I can’t believe it, I really can’t.”

Hebe Grout, 18, from High Wycombe, was in tears when she saw her results – two A*s and two As. and said she was “so excited” to start studying at Durham University.

She said: “I’m so over the moon. I opened the email this morning and was crying down the phone to my friends.

“A lot of hard work has gone into this and the thought of opening the envelope and not seeing what I wanted was heartbreaking so I’m really happy it’s paid off.

Head teacher Mrs Cromie said: “At a time of great change and uncertainty in education, these results reflect the hard work of Wycombe High students and the teachers who support them.

“Great A-Level results require a lot of hard work and perseverance both in and out of the classroom.

“Our students and their families have much to celebrate. We are extremely proud.”
