More than 1,000 people walked through the doors of High Wycombe’s new TK Maxx within ten minutes of it being opened for the first time this morning.

After years of planning the store was finally opened in the Eden Shopping Centre today, with excited shoppers queuing outside the door.

The large two-storey shop opened at 10am after builders finished construction work to replace a number of stores in the shopping centre, including Mothercare.

A TK Maxx spokesman said: “What a great opening morning we’ve had, with loads of excited customers coming in to see the new store.

“The rapidly changing assortments of TK Maxx creates the treasure hunt shopping experience that our customers love, but it also means once it’s gone, it’s gone, so we hope they stop by often to see our latest designer finds and unique gems.”

Despite months of rumours and questioning from the Bucks Free Press, Eden Shopping Centre bosses only confirmed that a deal had been struck with TK Maxx last week.

Marketing manager Niamh Crowley said they were “delighted” with the new store.

She said: “We’ve been working with TK Maxx for the past few years to provide a suitable space for their requirements.

“We’re delighted to be delivering the new store in such a prominent part of Eden and with such a good presence on the High Street.”
