A High Wycombe school has once again been named among the very best in the country after its GCSE results for 2016 were ranked third nationally among private schools.

Wycombe Abbey – which last week bagged the top A-Level scores among independent schools for UCAS points – sits third on the UK leaderboard for GCSEs.

Data from the Independent Schools Council (ISC) shows a massive 97.30 per cent of girls at the High Wycombe campus who took their GCSEs this year were awarded A* or A grades.

And all 87 who entered at the £12,000-a-term school received at least a C grade in every subject.

The girls were narrowly beaten by the North London Collegiate School, which saw 98.06 of students given an A* or A.

The prestigious Westminster School was placed 2nd. With 97.86 per cent.

The success comes just days after Wycombe Abbey was placed sixth in the national A-Level results list by grade, and received more UCAS points per student than anywhere else in the UK.

Many independent schools now sit ‘IGCSEs’ in some subjects, and the ISC does not differentiate between these and GCSEs.
