An elderly woman has died after a car careered off the road and crashed into four parked vehicles in High Wycombe, police confirmed today.

The 88-year-old passenger was seriously injured following the crash in Hatters Lane, near Tesco Express, last Thursday, and sadly died in hospital on Monday.

Detectives are still investigating the crash after a grey Hyundai Tucson left the road in Totteridge and smashed into a row of vehicles in a layby just after the mini-roundabout at the junction of Hicks Farm Rise.

Emergency services raced to the scene and took the front seat passenger to John Radcliffe Hospital, in Oxford, after receiving 999 calls at about 4.20pm.

Investigating officer, PC Martin Woodford of the Roads Policing based at Amersham police station, said: "I want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision itself or saw the grey Hyundai Tucson prior to the collision.

"If you have any information whatsoever, even if you think it might be insignificant, I want to hear from you.”
