UPDATE: Neighbours reveal 'devastation' as OAP dies in crash yards from her front door

An 88-year-old woman who died in a car crash yards from her home in High Wycombe has been named.

Passenger Ethel Johnson died at John Radcliffe Hospital last week, days after a car she was travelling in careered off the road and smashed into four parked vehicles in Totteridge.

Investigations are still ongoing after a grey Hyundai Tucson crashed on Hatters Lane, near Tesco Express, on Thursday, September 1.

It has now been revealed that the crash happened just feet away from the pensioner’s home at Holywell Gardens, Hatters Lane.

Ethel was seriously injured in the crash and was rushed to hospital by paramedics before she sadly died four days later.

Her details were released this morning by Buckinghamshire Coroner’s Court, who will conduct an inquest into her death on December 7.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses of the crash to come forward.

Investigating officer, PC Martin Woodford of the Roads Policing based at Amersham police station, said: "I want to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision itself or saw the grey Hyundai Tucson prior to the collision.

"If you have any information whatsoever, even if you think it might be insignificant, I want to hear from you.”
