A children’s rave that “changed the landscape for family entertainment” is making a triumphant return to High Wycombe this weekend.

The award-winning music and event crew, Big Fish Little Fish, will be bringing their unique brand of family entertainment back to Wycombe Swan’s Old Town Hall following a successful first appearance in January.

In 2013, inspired by the freedom and fun of summer festivals, Hannah Saunders set out to create something with the same vibe but that people could access throughout the year - both indoors in clubs, museums and arts venues, and outdoors in woodlands, festivals and city landmarks.

The idea struck a chord with parents who love to dance and Big Fish Little Fish (BFLF) have been recognised with yearly audience choice 'Best Family Event' prizes at the National Family Arts Festival Awards and this year with four awards in different categories.

Initially taking her cue musically from the rave years, and later expanding to take in all genres of dance music, Hannah drew on her contacts in the clubbing world and booked DJs 2 Bad Mice, Plastician, Tom Middleton, Altern-8, The Orb, Plex, Dave Booth, Terry Farley and DJ Food amongst others to play the family raves.

Along with the BFLF teams around the UK - and now in Australia too - Hannah and co put on raves almost every weekend, aiming to be a place “where families can introduce the new generation of clubbers to the delights of dancing to brilliant, banging music under club lights, glitter cannons, bubbles and balloons”.

Different zones, created to cater to babes in arms and toddlers plus craft tables, a colouring mural and playdoh table - not to mention a licensed bar - mean that Big Fish Little Fish caters for youngsters and their parents alike.

The DJs for the High Wycombe show on Saturday, May 13 are world-famous, genre-hopping DJs Heavenly Jukebox - recognised as great festival DJs, they play yearly and programme the Stonebridge Bar at Glastonbury, where BFLF will play this summer.

The rave will feature a play area with tents and tunnels and Villa Pia baby chill-out space with mats and a soft-play ball pool.

Facepainters will also be on hand and fancy dress is optional – the theme is set to be Once Upon A Time, fairy tales and stories.

Tickets for Saturday’s party are £11 for adults, £8 for children. Pre-walking infants are free. The rave runs from 2pm until 4pm.
