Wycombe’s first festival of wellbeing “exceeded all expectations” as hundreds poured into the town hall for workshops and advice.

The event, on Saturday, was the first of its kind in Wycombe and was organised by Wycombe Mind and the Connect2Serve youth group.

The free festival, which was opened by chairman of Bucks County Council, Patricia Birchley at 10am, featured workshops on health and wellness, laughter, exercise for the mind body and soul and cyber bullying.

Visitors also took advantage of free mental health advice, health checks and food.

Organisers David Da Silva and Julia Wassell, who is the founder of Wycombe Mind, organised the event for both adults and children and said it was a “fantastic” day.

They said: ‘We had not anticipated that 350 people would attend and it was a joyous occasion with a good atmosphere. People were queuing for health checks and mental health advice.”

The event was held as part of the Time to Change campaign to combat discrimination and stigma surrounding mental health.
