A heartbroken wife has spoken of her grief after her husband died in a double car crash in High Wycombe earlier this year.

Caren Fisk, 51, said her husband Leon, 52, was her best friend and that she was “surrounded by his love”.

Speaking about her husband in a police statement read out to the court during his inquest, Mrs Fisk, who met Mr Fisk when she was 13-years-old, said he loved to cook and regularly made dinner for the family of six.

She said: “He was a loving father [to their kids aged 13 and 14] and an amazing stepfather to my two sons [aged 20 and 23, from a previous relationship].

“He loved cooking and did all the cooking for the family.

“He loved life. He was a wonderful husband to me. I am blessed to have been loved by him.

“He will be very missed.”

Mr Fisk sadly died after his car crashed into several vehicles on Hammersley Lane on June 27.

The coroner at his inquest his week was told he had epilepsy, which he controlled with medication.

Speaking to the Bucks Free Press after the inquest, Mrs Fisk said he was just seconds away from their home when he crashed, and that his children “adored” him.

She said: “Every room in our house is a testament to him. He spent so much time working on them.

“When we are here, he is everywhere.”

Mrs Fisk said the couple's family and friends came together to celebrate what would have been his 53rd birthday on Sunday.

She said: “It was very sad but it was also very happy. We laughed and cried and released balloons with messages on them for him.

“It was a very special day.”

Around 250 people also turned out to a memorial the family held for him, and his friends and family have raised more than £6,300 for Child Bereavement UK in his memory.

In a statement from the family, Mrs Fisk added: “Once met never forgotten, that was Leon.

“Adored by his parents and so close to his brother Dan and sisters Belle and Chaela, Leon was a huge character with an even bigger heart.

“We miss him terribly. As a family we have been overwhelmed by the support and love from the local community, how lucky we are to live in such an amazing village.

“It is testament indeed to what a unique person Leon was and how much he was loved by everyone around him.”
