Wanderers’ players hit the town this morning in a bid to learn more about the history of High Wycombe with a surprise scavenger hunt.

The session formed part of the club’s latest ‘development day’, which aims to take the squad away from their day-to-day training ground environment to enhance skills including teamwork, leadership and overcoming challenges.

Split into five groups, the players started off in the Chiltern Taps pub on Oxford Road and composed a radio advert about the club – which were later recorded in the studio at Wycombe Sound.

The groups then set off around the town, following a series of clues which took them to the site of the club’s old Loakes Park home, Wycombe Museum, the high street and Eden Shopping Centre, in a race to solve the clues in the quickest time.

In a hotly-contested tie, teams captained by Adebayo Akinfenwa and Sam Saunders came joint first, with Akinfenwa’s group earning a time bonus for being judged to have composed the best radio jingle, and the Beast ended triumphant after a tie-break question.
