A 59-year-old man from High Wycombe has been jailed for nine years for sexually abusing an elderly woman with dementia.
Winston George, of Chairborough Road, was put behind bars after he was caught in the act by the woman’s family member.
Police said George was a trusted visitor to the home but abused that trust.
He visited the woman’s home on April 12 last year, who he had known for a number of years, and sexually abused her.
He was caught by a family member who called the police. George was arrested at the scene and, following an investigation, was charged on June 7 this year.
Sadly the victim has since died.
George was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court yesterday (Thursday), with the jury unanimously finding him unanimously guilty of one count of penetrative sexual activity with a mentally disordered female, following a four-day trial which finished yesterday.
Investigating officer, detective constable Kay Dickinson of Force CID, based at Wycombe police station, said: “This was a distressing case to deal with for all those involved.
“The victim was extremely vulnerable because she had dementia which rendered her unable to refuse sexual activity with Winston George.
“Sadly, since the offence the victim has died but I am satisfied that justice has been done for her and her family.
“I want to thank the victim's family for their support, the witnesses who gave evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service for bringing the case to court and the jury who listened to all the evidence and delivered a unanimous guilty verdict.”
