Kind-hearted youngsters from High Wycombe braved the cold weather last week to collect supplies for the town’s foodbank ahead of Christmas.
Brothers Owen and Luke Brewster, aged nine and six, and their friend Lilia Holbrow, nine, spent two hours knocking on their neighbours’ front doors on the Disraeli estate on December 7.
The trio picked up much-need food, drinks and toiletries in aid of One Can Trust, which provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis in the community, a week after delivering leaflets to ask residents for their support.
Kate Brewster, Owen and Luke’s mum, hopes to take the children down to the foodbank to find out more about how it benefits those in need.
She said: “Neighbours really got on board and the kids were left amazed by how many donations they got. It's fantastic to know that their hard work out in the cold will make a real difference to some families who aren't so lucky this Christmas.”
The food will be dropped off to the charity’s foodbank on Duke Street on Thursday morning in time for Christmas.
