A High Wycombe mosque will open its doors and welcome members of the community in to give them an insight into the “Muslim way of life” at the weekend.

Wycombe Islamic Centre in St Mark’s Close is taking part in the national ‘visit my mosque’ initiative on Sunday, February 18.

The open day and exhibition aims to give people a glimpse into how Muslims connect to God in a communal place of worship and the services offered at the mosque.

Amjad Iqbal, one of the event organisers, explained that ancient Qurans and scientific manuscripts from a special private collection will be on show as part of an Islamic exhibition on the day as well as providing refreshments to guests.

He said: "We have invited local councillors, school teachers, faith leaders, neighbours, and are looking to reach out to anyone, who wants to know more about what really takes place in a mosque, regardless of their views on religion".

The open day will run from 2pm to 7pm.
