A major High Wycombe roundabout that was shut across four different weekends will not close again this weekend, even though the work has not been fully completed.

Handy Cross roundabout and all its exits were closed from 9pm on Friday to 5am on Monday morning across four different weekends - with rumours circling that it would have to be closed again this weekend.

However, it has been confirmed to the Bucks Free Press by Highways England that although the work was not completely finished because of bad weather conditions, it will not close over the weekend again.

The work involved resurfacing, replacing the traffic signal and "census detection loops", renewal of the road markings and studs, and laying anti-skid material at selected areas of the roundabout.

Due to snowy conditions at the weekend, Highways England crews were unable to finish the work.

A spokesman for Highways England said there are "no plans" to close it again, adding: "The majority of work was completed, in the snow, last weekend.

"Outstanding work will be completed under night time closures or lane closures only.

"These will be communicated via the weekly roadworks roundups."
