The traumatised victim of a car crash has called for changes to be made to a “dangerous” junction amid fears the next accident there could be fatal.

Vicky Williams was in Downley on Saturday night visiting her mother Elaine Rixon when the pair were involved in a crash with another car close to the junction of The Pastures and Plomer Hill.

The mother and daughter have been left “very bruised and very shaken” following the terrifying crash, which saw emergency services – including the fire brigade – race to the scene at around 10.30pm.

Mrs Williams, 29, said some sort of safety measure needs to be put in place at the junction to prevent a similar crash happening again.

Describing the crash, she said: “I was pulling out of The Pastures and no one was coming, then all of a sudden I saw the headlights of this other car coming straight towards me. Then there was a huge crash and the airbags came out. I was in total shock.

“It is just not a safe junction. There needs to be some sort of safety measure in place – maybe sleeping policemen or a roundabout – something that will slow drivers down and make them think more.

“People just race down there, particularly at night. Something needs to be done or there could be a fatal crash next time.

“I have an 11-week old baby and I dread to think what might have happened if my child was in the car with us.”

Mrs Williams’ mum, Elaine, added: “There was another accident at the junction a few weeks ago because people just go too fast down Plomer Hill. There is no camera or any sort of deterrent. It just doesn’t bear thinking about what could have happened. Something needs to be done before someone gets serious injuries.”

A spokesman for Transport for Bucks said there are no plans to make any safety improvements.

She said: “We are sorry to hear of the accident that happened on Saturday night. We have checked the collision history at this junction and there has not been any reported injury collisions in the last five years (to end of February 2018).

“If the recent collisions mentioned resulted in an injury then we will receive the report from TVP in due course. As such, this section of road has not been currently identified for any proposed safety improvements.”
