HOUSE prices in Buckinghamshire rose by 8.3 per cent in the last year, new figures show.

The latest statistics published by the Land Registry put Bucks joint ninth in the national list for annual average price rise.

The cost of a home increased by 0.2 per cent from September to October.

The average property in the county is now £260,196.

And the rise in Bucks is significantly higher than the national average of 3.4 per cent.

It is also more than neighbouring Slough - 6.1 per cent - Windsor and Maidenhead - 7 per cent - and Oxfordshire 7.9 per cent.

However, the average price in Windsor is higher at £325,898.

The average property value in England and Wales is now £165,505.

Even London, which had the highest regional increase, was less than Bucks, with 7.6 per cent.

The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million increased by 44 per cent between August 2009 and August 2010, from 506 to 731.
