Beaconsfield author launches first novel

A CREATIVE writing teacher has penned her first novel, which will be launched in Beaconsfield next week.

The story called Blackberry Promises by Jan Moran Neil starts in August 1959 and it's blackberry picking time.

A back street stabbing changes the lives of five young people forever and promises prove difficult to keep.

Jan has been running Creative Ink for Writers since 2000 at the Fitzwilliams Centre in Beaconsfield and has her own publishing company, Creative Ink Publishing.

And this story comes from a play she wrote and staged in 2003. She has also written two other plays, Brave Hearts and Baggage, and The Deadly Factor.

Jan, who lives in Beaconsfield, has also published a selection of short stories and poems, Serving Bluebird Pie. And it is a big week for Jan, as not only is her book launch on Thursday but on the Saturday the first Creative Ink for Actors' film will be premiered.

In 2011 Creative Ink Publishing mounted an international competition for the best Dear John Monologues.

This has led to the best 12 Dear John's being chosen and filmed, and will be premiered at Barn Hall, Amersham Community Centre in Chiltern Avenue on Saturday, November 17 at 8pm.

It will also be available on DVD for £5.50. The book launch is on November 15 at 12pm at the Fitzwilliams Centre. It is free entry and free refreshments. Blackberry Promises’ £6.99 is available from me or Amazon. £7.50 if you would like it posted to you.
