1. THE Beaconsfield Art and Craft Fair takes place this weekend starting tonight from 7-9.30pm and tomorrow from 10am-4pm. The fair is held twice a year and has an exhibition and sale of fine art and quality local crafts. It is at The Beaconsfield School in Wattleton Road in Beaconsfield. There will be a diverse selection of paintings in many media, from contemporary pieces to more traditional work; watercolours, oils, encaustic wax, pen and ink, photography and more. There will also be a wide variety of ceramics, sculptures and pieces formed of glass and other materials. Alongside the art they have many local craftspeople selling a broad selection of high quality, handmade and original work ranging from textiles and wood, to jewellery and pens, via dolls and hand bound books. 2. THE Princes Risborough Music Society is celebrating its centenary this year with a special concert at All Saints Parish Church, High Wycombe on Saturday at 7.30pm. The programme will include Elgar’s "The Music Makers" and Rutter’s "Feel The Spirit" with guest appearance by Adrian Thompson. Tickets cost £12 and are available from 01844 342202, choir members or Princes Risborough Information Centre.
3. LEE Hurst will be at The Elgiva in Chesham on Saturday at 8pm with his show, Too Scared To Leave The House. The comedian casts his comedy eyes over the many end-of-the-world scare stories from Acid Rain and Global Warming to Bird Flu and Mad Cow Disease and many other ‘apocalyptic disaster predictions’ that never were. 4. THE Rugged Radnage 10K Run is on Sunday from 10am at Radnage Village Hall. Organised by Radnage C of E Infant School. Entrants are accepted on the day for £15. For more details go to www.ruggedradnage10k.co.uk.
5. WYCOMBE’S music scene will get a welcome boost this weekend when the Oxjam Festival comes to town. Bands and performers from the area have been hard hit this year by the closure of music venues the Nags Head and the Wycombe Academy but their spirits are sure to be lifted by the Oxjam charity gig tonight (Friday) at Scorpio’s Bar. The event has been organised by ex-Wycombe High School student Becky Wixon, 18, as part of her gap year. Five-piece indie band Coastal Cities will be headlining the show, supported by Ayelsbury-based As Elephants Are. Also appearing will be Michael Lee, The Running Guns, Becky Wixon and Nick Byrne.
