SING-ALONG-A-ROBICS is what you get when you combine a fitness workout and a karaoke session.

It's the idea of Downley fitness instructor Alice Ramcharran as she brought together her twin passions in life, with the first taster class taking place in High Wycombe at the end of October.

The workout was given an enthusiastic, if slightly bemused, welcome by those taking part at the Arts 4 Everyone centre in Desborough Road.

Mrs Ramcharran, 40, admitted a flaw that needs ironing out is making sure people know the words to the songs they're singing, after picking a song by The Wanted for the taster session that not everyone was familiar with.

But she has a cunning solution up her sleeve: "I might have a set list of tracks and give the words to people beforehand so people can learn them, so they're not concentrating on the screen so much."

Mrs Ramcharran, of Pyramid Fitness, explained the thinking behind the new all-singing, all-dancing class: "I love singing. I used to have lessons so it's something I really enjoy. With programmes like X Factor and Strictly, a lot of people get inspired by them and sing along to their hairbrushes.

"We love to be able to sing but haven't got the confidence, or it's not high on their list of priorities. This makes it more of a fun exercise class.

"Some people were a bit bemused by it. It's a work in progress."
