DISCOVER Dahl's Archives at The Roald Dahl Museum on January 5 at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm, The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, 81-83 High Street, Great Missenden. A behind-the-scenes look at their archive store which houses Roald Dahl’s manuscripts and letters, with collections manager and archivist, Rachel White. Free for Museum visitors. ON January 8 there is a Family History Talk: Was Your Ancestor Really Married? at 7.45pm at the Community Centre, Wakeman Road, Bourne End. Dr Colin Chapman outlines what constituted a valid marriage recognised by both church and state, and the circumstances under which our ancestors undertook their marriage vows. Surviving records will be highlighted. Non-members of Buckinghamshire Family History Society are very welcome; a small donation will be appreciated.

THE Olde Bell in Hurley is holding a Wedding Fair on January 13 from 11am-3pm. In the grounds of The Olde Bell are the historic beamed Tudor Tithe Barn and Victorian Malthouse- venues for an English Country Wedding. Both licensed to hold civil ceremonies with private gardens and rustic design. Surrounded by rolling countryside, only five minutes' walk from the River Thames and local Church in the idyllic village of Hurley. Free admission.
