Review: Cinderella at The Misbourne School
WRITTEN and directed by Sam Webb the Misbourne Performing Arts Production Society offered a modern day version of this familiar fairy story. With a delightful Cinderella, a very laid back Prince and a strong Fairy Godmother complete with her three fairy helpers it zipped along at a lively pace.
There were some amazing effects, including a snow machine and a very cleverly devised scene with space travel.
The Misbourne ‘Funktion Band’ under their musical director David Dwight did a fine job of accompanying throughout.
The chorus numbers were lively and there was plenty of schoolboy humour which delighted the younger members of the audience. The two brothers, playing Buttons and Buttons voices was an ingenious device and well received.
There was some melodious singing and a very enthusiastic cast which helped to drive the story along. The comedy was well played out and the alternative interpretation of the Twelve Days of Christmas delighted the audience.
The use of water guns was rather overplayed but those using them seemed to be having a good time. We were there on the final night when all the accolades were presented and it was obvious that a great many people had been involved in the production.
The party atmosphere concluded the show and the audience mainly made up of family and friends roared their approval. A good time was had by all.
