A WELL-known educationalist is giving a talk at Bucks New Uni about the educational story of the town.

Muriel Pilkington, former county and regional President of the Buckinghamshire Association of Secondary Heads, will be giving a free public lecture at 6pm on Tuesday, March 12 at the High Wycombe campus in Queen Alexandra Road.

In her lecture entitled Past, Present and Future, Muriel will talk about the educational story of High Wycombe, why Bucks New University came to be situated in the town, and how it developed from a small science and arts school established in 1893 into the modern institution it is today.

Muriel is a leading authority in education. Now an educational writer, speaker and consultant, she is a former head of Wycombe High School and also held a number of school governorships and was vice chairman of the Council of Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.

The author of a number of educational publications, Muriel wrote Past, Present and Future, a book on the history of Bucks New University, which was published in 2010.

Muriel's presentation is the next in the series of free public lectures hosted by Bucks New University, which seek to discuss subjects of interest to the community both locally and nationally. The lecture will be chaired by the University's Vice Chancellor, Professor Ruth Farwell.

The lecture will take place from 6 to 7pm. Light refreshments will be served beforehand from 5.30pm and after the event.
