Cliveden Rocks next weekend

LEGENDARY 60s band The Searchers will headline this year's summer party as Cliveden Rocks the night away.

Tickets are selling fast for the annual concerts which see a host of bands play and finishes with a spectacular fireworks display, all in the natural setting of the Cliveden Paddocks.

The National trust property, which was once the home of Waldorf and Nancy Astor, sees two concerts during the weekend.

On Saturday, July 31 70s and 80s music will be on the bill with tribute act Queen B, with Paul Jackson as Freddie Mercury, who will bring to life Somebody to Love, Killer Queen and It’s A Kind of Magic.

The tribute night will continue with Utter Madness with hit favourites, It Must be Love, House of Fun and Baggy Trousers.

John Bignell, visitor services manager at Cliveden said:‘”Tickets for this year’s concerts are selling fast, as people are looking for something spectacular to do on these wonderful summer evenings.

“Cliveden is the perfect setting for a picnic, relaxing and listening to the superb bands. Buying in advance offers an even better bargain, guaranteeing admission on the night. I am sure that once again everyone will have a wonderful time, listening to classic pop music in this relaxed woodland setting.’ On Sunday August 1 The Searchers will please the crowds with their number one hit singles Sweets For My Sweet, Needles and Pins and Don’t Throw Your Love Away.

The Boogie Brothers who have been together since the mid-80s, will take the stage with such crowd-pleasers as Gimme Some Lovin’, Soul Man, Jailhouse Rock and Everybody Needs Somebody to Love.

The Tremeloes will also play, featuring original members Dave Munden and Rick Westwood.

The concerts are sponsored by The Frost Partnership. Frost’s director Lynne Eckhoff-Thomas, added:“Cliveden Rocks has become a major event in the local calendar and we have been selling lots of tickets!

The concert weekend has grown each year and its success comes from the appeal it has for all ages, from teenagers to grandparents reliving their teenage years.”

Funds raised by Cliveden Rocks! will help towards carrying out vital and overdue conservation and restoration work at the property.

Tickets for each Cliveden Rocks! concert are priced £26 in advance, £30 on the night, if available.

Advance booking is strongly recommended on 0844 249 1895, book in person at any Frost Partnership office or book online at www.nationaltrust.org.uk/events.

No gazebos are permitted at the concerts.

The Searchers will stop off at the Palace Theatre as part of their tour. The Searchers
