Free entry to see Art Brut at Bucks New Uni Students Union

FOR the first time members of the public will be able to go and watch a live band at the Bucks New Uni students union for free. Following the closure of the Nags Head, which is now seeking new tenants and was one of Wycombe's main live music spots, and the nightclub, Pure, the uni wants to show residents the union is a good option for a night out.

On November 24 all are welcome to enjoy the music of, Art Brut, a mix of classic rock and punk and who have toured all over the world.

Lead vocalist, Eddie Argos, said their second gig was in Wycombe at The White Horse.

He said: "The second show we ever played was at The White Horse. During the day they had strippers and at night they had bands. We didn't know that and we found it full of naked ladies.

"We had a guy with us called Alex who was 15 and his eyes were on stalks."

Art Brut started out in 2003 and have since released their début album Band Bang Rock & Roll, It's a Bit Complicated, Art Brut vs Satan and this year Brilliant! Tragic!

Argos said he has always wanted to be in a band and if he wasn't doing it full time he would still be in a band.

The 32-year-old moved to Berlin earlier in the year and has just finished a tour in Spain.

He said he sees the live music scene from a bubble and has not been aware of more venues shutting down.

He said: "I go to the same venues and play them all the time. We have played with some quite good new bands recently."

Argos writes the lyrics for the band. He said: "I am always writing them down as I go around. I walk every where."

He then needs to link the lyrics up with the music- "It is fun. It is like a puzzle."

They are having a well deserved break over Christmas and then writing the new album.

Art Brut are on at the Bucks New Uni Student Union on November 24 at 8pm. Free entry.
