Dear Kaye, My boyfriend has been taking cocaine far too often. I’m aware that many people use it in social situations but he has been taking it even when he’s just sat in front of the TV.
To be honest apart from being worried about him I’m fed up with the rubbish he talks when he’s had it. He is a totally different person to the one I met 3 years ago.
Alison
Dear Alison,
When drugs become a part of everyday life then serious action needs to be taken. Would he accept help to control his habit? Does he even think he has a problem?
Depending on his attitude towards substance misuse, you have two choices. Help him to take back control of his life or finish the relationship. I know this sounds brutal, but unless he addresses the problem, nothing will change.
Let me know what you decide to do and I will send you relevant information on support groups, clinics, counsellors etc. Meanwhile I have put contact details of Turning Point below as they specialise in this area.
Good luck Alison, I look forward to hearing from you,
Kaye.
