Wendy Shephard talks about the power of crystals

Wendy Shephard Wendy Shephard

CRYSTALS are Wendy Shephard's passion. She believes that the stones can help your mind, body and spirit if you are just prepared to believe in what they can do for you.

Wendy runs her own business, Crystal Cradles, which in turn runs events, one of which is happening this Sunday.

The Mind Body Spirit Fayre offers a range of stalls to help people explore their own spirituality.

Wendy said spirituality has been part of her life from a very early age, when her father gave her a crystal tumbler when she was eight.

She said crystals can work on three different levels- for your body (healing), for your mind (if you have depression, for example) and for your spirituality.

She said: "They work through a system of belief. If you believe they are going to help you they do help you."

There are different ways of using them- you can put some by your bed, you can put some in water which creates an elixir and they are also pieces which you can put in your home.

Wendy has done a lot of work on her spiritual journey and was with a Shaman for a long time.

She has also done tarot readings, angel card readings and Reiki.

Wendy started running the fayres last year as she wanted to offer tarot readings and spiritual help at a reasonable cost.

She said at her fayres the tarot readers cannot charge more than £30 for a reading- offering £15 for 15 minutes and £30 for a full reading, which will be at least 30 minutes.

And the reason for this? "A lot of people who come to the fayres want to know more about their money situation. And in today's economy not every one has £40 to spare."

She said she does not make any profit out of the stall holders as rental space goes to advertising costs and the only profit she might make from the fayres is from the door entry.

Wendy also sells crystals through her business Crystals Cradles,.

She said: "I sell high quality crystals. I specialise in polished crystals and also sell incense and spiritual books. I am basically a one stop shop. I am widely known for my quality of crystals. I have got a very big following."

But she said this is more of a passion than a day job. Her main business is a building company called MA Shephard Buildings Ltd which she runs with her husband, Mark.

The fayres are also a family affair as her husband helps, and her daughter, Meg, 20, her son, Charlie, 18 and sometimes her son, Richard, 26 who lives in Nottingham.

And what does she say to people who doesn't believe in the power of crystals? "I respects other people's views. I respect the fact that some people do not believe in this. I am not place on this earth for people to think in this way. This is my personal belief.

"I work with a lot of people who are of the same mind.

"there is some scientific evidence that crystals can have an energy."

She believes that spirituality will be the next religion as everyone is coming together and to her fayres from all different faiths.

So what does she believe? "I believe in a spirit- a great spirit. I don't believe in God and that implies a faith. I believe there is something that has given us the gift and crafted us. I always count my blessings."

And when we die she believes we go onto somewhere else.

She said: "it is like we have been given the gift of life. It is up to use what we do with it. Some of us take the spiritual pathway and some of us don't."
