WADDESDON Manor is celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with a special flower bed design.

The special design for the Queen was put in place last week.

The formal Parterre to the south of the house now hosts a special display in carpet bedding for 2012 with a recreation of The Queen’s official Diamond Jubilee emblem, designed by Katherine Dewar from Chester, who won a competition run by Blue Peter.

But festivities for the Jubilee began earlier than that. In February schoolchildren and residents planted the first saplings in the new woodland site, a project which Waddesdon is doing in partnership with the Woodland Trust. There will be 37,000 trees planted in a two stage planting process.

For visitor information and details go to www.waddesdon.org.uk or call 01296 653226. All National Trust members and under 5s go free. Tickets to the gardens, aviary and playground are £8 for adults, £4.50 for children and £20.50 for family. The house and gardens is £17 for adults an
