Review: Fantastic Mr Fox at The Bury, Chesham
10:38am Wednesday 11th July 2012 in Freetime By Rita Carpenter
AFTER all the recent rain the sun came out and although it was windy which affected the sound at times, the beautiful setting added to the atmosphere of a production with lots of animals. IBB Solicitors kindly loan their grounds for the Chesham Open Air Festival the horrendous downpour we had all the week must have caused many headaches but for this production the weather was kind.
The make-up was excellent and the furry heads of the animals delighted the younger members of the audience. Mr and Mrs Fox were especially impressive and Badger had an amazing voice. It is a big problem working with children and directors/producers Lizzy Sutton and Tania Hamberger assisted by Nikky Meeson certainly worked hard to get the children to perform so well. The Farmers were superb and very amusing. There was a good choice of music which adds another dimension to the action. This is a great way to introduce youngsters to the theatre and judging by those in the audience, even the very young ones who sat enthralled throughout with no fidgeting or signs of boredom is the mark of a good show.
The future of youth theatre is safe if these talented youngsters continue as they grow up. Well done Chesham Bois Theatre Company I very much look forward to next year.
