Iconic images detailing the history of Bucks have been compiled for an exciting new book.
The Bucks Free Press has delved deep into its archives to unearth some photographic treasures for the 92-page tome, entitled Bucks In Time, which goes on sale from the beginning of December.
The fascinating history of High Wycombe has been recorded for the past 155 years in the Free Press and in pictures captured by photographers dating back to the Victorian era.
Now, through scores of snaps from a unique photo database, as well as extracts from the Free Press, this first volume of Bucks in Time presents an unmissable profile of the town and surrounding villages in the first half of the 20th century.
The book is made up of five sections: Education; Transport, Entertainment; Shopping; and World Wars.
Among its many highlights, it looks back at lost – but not forgotten – landmarks including department store Murrays, Davenport Vernon and The Rex Cinema, and showcases how the Wycombe area fared during the war.
