FOR many Phil Cool was a legendary icon in the 1980s with his ability to 'gurn' and transform his face into a multitude of impressions.
And now he is back on stage at The Elgiva Theatre to delight audiences with his one man show.
His unique style will make his two hour show fly by and is like nothing you will have ever seen before.
He said: “I very much enjoy live shows. It is like therapy as you can unwind on stage.
“If you have a grievance or whatever you can tell the audience and that can can get a laugh.
“I actually always wanted to be a singer. Then I started doing comedy in my shows which hit off.”
Phil had three BBC TV series and two ITV series in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He said: “It is very difficult to keep it up. You grow older and they don't seem to be interested.
“I never did like TV too much as you have got to sit with writers in a room. You can't keep doing that.
“The best part of my career was probably fulfilling my ambition which was to play in the biggest theatres in the country.
“I performed to 1600 people at the Leeds Grand Theatre- just walking on stage that was the ultimate. Even if I went into films it would never be as good as that.”
Phil has an amazing ability for impressions and does a fantastic George Bush, a scathing Jeremy Paxman and one of this favourites, Paul McCartney.
He has been doing stand up for over 30 years and is like no other comedian on stage at the moment.
Phil is from Chorley in Lancashire, which is also where Peter Kay is from.
“I have met Peter Kay. We did the Royal Variety Show together in front of Prince Charles and Camilla in 1998 and we were in the same dressing room together,” he said.
“I never get bored of touring. I don't get bored ever. I am always writing a song. People on the train may look at me and think he is not doing anything but it is all going on in my head.”
Phil is also looking forward to touring again with fellow guitarist, Ken Nicol, who together from Nicol and Cool and provide a blend of music and comedy impressions.
Phil is playing at the Elgiva Theatre in Chesham on November 6 at 8pm. Tickets cost £15. To book call 01494582900
