Shiver me timbers - Wycombe Savoy is on the look out for a band of keen swashbucklers to join its next production, The Pirates of Penzance.

The production, which will be performed in October at The Beacon Centre, Holtspur, also needs auditionees for policemen and Major-General Stanley's daughters.

Written by Gilbert and Sullivan, the plot revolves around Frederic, a young man who is mistakenly apprenticed to pirates.

When he approaches the end of his indentured period, Frederic leaves for shore and instantly falls in love with Mabel, one of the daughters of Major-General Stanley. But will the course of true love run smooth when the pirates also land on shore?

The production launches with a sing through on Thursday, April 3, 8pm and auditions take place on Thursday, April 10, 7.30pm, at Hannah Ball School, Philip Road, High Wycombe. Details: Geoff Pearson 01494 440426, www.wsoc.org or e-mail geoff@gp-c.co.uk
