JEALOUS lovers, magical fairies and a moonlit forest all conspire to produce mayhem and mirth in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the latest offering from the Chiltern Shakespeare Company.
Opening this week, the show marks the 20th consecutive summer season from the company at Hall Barn in Beaconsfield.
"For those who are seeing the play or perhaps experiencing Shakespeare for the first time, there is no better place to start than with this magical feast of poetry and romance."
Written by Shakespeare during the 1590s, the romantic comedy portrays a rich mixture of the Bard's classic dramatic themes: jealous and quarrelling couples, supernatural influences on mortal beings, interwoven stories and an amusing play within a play.
This year, the Chiltern Shakespeare Company has employed the talents of director Andrew Rogers, known widely in the area for his work with the Beaconsfield Theatre Group.
He said: "For those who are seeing the play or perhaps experiencing Shakespeare for the first time, there is no better place to start than with this magical feast of poetry and romance."
Chiltern Shakespeare Company performs A Midsummer Night's Dream from Wednesday, June 11 to Saturday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 18 to Saturday, June 21 at the Open Air Theatre, Hall Barn, Beaconsfield. Tickets: 08700 667720 or www.chiltern-shakespeare.org
THE one thing about Britain’s economic crisis that’s winding me up more than anything else is the stupid term used to describe it.

A RETIRED teacher friend tells me that a week or so ago, there was obscene graffiti painted on his door and stones thrown at his living room window. He went outside; the culprits ran away. They returned and attacked his window again, breaking it.
Opening ceremony less than 24 hours away! The fireworks of the paralympics start in just over a days time. The organisers have promised a number of things including a record haul of medals by the host country and an opening ceremony which will knock your socks off! Either way the chinese win! They have only just recognised the importance of disability sport in the complete rehabilitation of a disabled person. In the last 10 years I mean. The blink of an eye really.
