Serious American composers may disagree, but I believe that the finest and most individual contribution by the United States to the Lyric Theatre is the American Musical.

Pools Paradise - Review

9:09am Tuesday 7th July 2009

REMEMBER when the pools man came round the door for your weekly money. Remember checking the football results to see if your forecast was right and the teams had fallen in line with your thinking and had won, lost or drawn.

Another Calamity - Review

10:20am Monday 6th July 2009

Masquerade the youth branch of the Masque Players with the assistance of the adult group presented a sequel to their production in 2008. The first half of the show comprised a one act play Departure, written by Stephen Smith and directed by Alison Rogers, set as the title suggest in an airport departure lounge. The cast consisted of four members and although it was quite amusing it was rather slow and tighter direction would have improved the pace. This was followed by some of the youth group presenting songs from the shows with Zoe Stratford Nick Field, Lucy Church, Alice Cook, Emily Horler.

'Allo ‘Allo - Review

8:43am Tuesday 9th June 2009

IT wasn’t so much of a ‘good moaning’ but a ‘groot ovening’ for a packed Theatre Royal as some of the most famous TV characters came to life on stage for the 25th anniversary production of ‘Allo ‘Allo.

Dreamboats and Petticoats - Review

3:01pm Wednesday 3rd June 2009

This musical extravaganza is set in 1961, about a year before The Beatles and the Swinging Sixties when, we are told, sex was "invented".
