A festival celebrating the arts of the Islamic world has come to towns across Buckinghamshire including High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Chesham.
The Art of Islam Festival will be the biggest exhibition of Islamic art ever held within the County; displaying paintings, metalwork, furniture, carpets, jewellery and, of course, calligraphy.
The art is from across the Near East, Pakistan and India, with work on loan from the British Museum, Birmingham City Museum and Art Gallery, London’s Horniman Museum and even local residents.
The Bodleian Library in Oxford is providing paintings collected in the 18th century at the Mughal Royal Courts by resident of Buckinghamshire and High Wycombe residents Razwan and Sarya Baig are lending their private collection.
The festival, which runs until September, will also host more than 100 events, talks and school projects.
