A NEW art gallery has opened its doors in Chalfont St Giles.

The Hillier Gallery was opened by Andrew Hillier, which is his second gallery.

He welcomed art lovers and enthusiasts from the area and Chesham and Amersham MP Cheryl Gillan to the opening.

Based on The Green at Chalfont St Giles the gallery features work from Ivan Lapper, who was commissioned by the Queen to paint her favourite view of The Tower of London, President’s artist Oleg Trofimov and Viktor Sheleg, who counts Jack Nicholson and Royalty amongst his collectors.

It also features a tribute wall to Polish artist Andrzej Piecha, who sadly passed away recently, showcasing his last works.

Mrs Gillan said: "One of the high points of my job is being invited to things like the opening of the Hillier Gallery. Having worked in Russia over 25 years ago I was delighted to find some wonderful Russian and Eastern European artists for sale alongside some fabulous home-grown British talents.

"There are pieces for traditionalists and modernists at reasonable prices and it was heart-warming to learn that people are welcome to come in and browse as well as to buy. I’m delighted to welcome Andrew and his gallery to Chalfont St Giles and wish him every success."

The Hillier Gallery Chalfont St Giles and Stratford are open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 11am-4pm. Go to www.hilliergallery.co.uk for more details.
