An exhibition for visionary art and raw talent has been set-up in aid of artists who may succumb to social exclusion.

The Bucks Mind Raw Art Gallery (BRAG) has been set up to help nurture artistic talent and raise valuable funds for Buckinghamshire Mind.

The art gallery will help to compose and nurture those who could otherwise be excluded from society’s usual routes into the art world, whether that is because they are self-taught, socially isolated, have mental health issues or are otherwise not motivated nor encouraged to develop their artistic capability; they are people with a story.

Those artists who do not wish or who do not have the confidence to experience direct, face to face contact with the whole art group are able to participate in their own chosen way to still receive advice and guidance, as well as still contributing work and being able to exhibit in the gallery.

As well as this the gallery does not demand any attendance obligations and will allow artists to remain anonymous if they wish.

Not only is the gallery hoping to help individuals explore ways and means of expression in a way that is supportive and without pressure, they hope to raise awareness of Mental Health issues across the county while raising funds for their charitable works.

Their upcoming show, Raw, hopes to be one of many exhibits that will raise money to enable to gallery to prosper while also supporting Mind and discovered artists.

Any artistic sales will be split financially as such to benefit all involved. 45 per cent of sales and funds raised will go towards Buckinghamshire Mind and Buckinghamshire Mind Raw Art Gallery and 55 per cent will go to the individual artists.

Buckinghamshire Mind was established in Aylesbury as early as 1914. and has been holding social events to support its member’s social development since 1953. It was not until 2005 that the charity began receiving funding from Bucks County Council.

Today they offer activity groups, counselling for adults, education and training services, befriending sessions, employment support, mental health first aid, older adults services and prevention matters, which supports vulnerable adults in the community.
