Black Boys Inn wins award

The Black Boys Inn, Hurley, has received the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand for the third year running.

The restaurant is in a charming and traditional 16th Century inn which prides itself for its Cuisine Bourgeoise - classic French dishes with a modern twist.

Owner Adrian Bannister says on winning the Michelin Bib Gourmand: "To win one takes a lot of work, passion and focus, and most importantly a consistency in quality."

It is given for the quality of the food and the pricing (under £28 per person, excluding drinks).

Head chef Simon Bonwick says he uses seasonal fresh ingredients include fish from the Gulf Streams of the Devon and Cornish coasts.

He buys premier Foie Gras and other treats from the weekly run to the Rungis market in Paris, and gets his fruit and vegetables from Solstice in New Covent Garden market.

Farmer McBride provides organic eggs, butter and cream for the restaurant; and Simon gets local woodland mushrooms (when in season). All the ingredients are ethically sourced and classically cooked.
