Name: Martin McEvoy
Address: Pitchpond Close, Knotty Green
Pub: The Red Lion, Knotty Green
How long have you been coming here? We’ve lived here for 11 years, and initially started coming here because it’s so close to where I live, but I love the fact it’s a proper local pub, which exist less and less these days.
How important is it to have a local pub like this? The situation now is that a lot of pubs are turning into food places, which I like too, but it’s important to have a good, proper local pub and the fact we’ve got one so close to us it fantastic. There’s a real community atmosphere. A lot of it’s down to the efforts of Tina, who runs the pub so well, but also the community itself who realise how special this place is.
What do you normally drink? I usually drink Guinness. I also like bitter, but the Guinness here is superb.
How often do you come here? I come here minimum once a week, my wife and I make a conscious effort to support the pub.
Where do you sit? I’m that much of a local that I’m flexible to work around other people. But normally we sit at the round table by the window, we’ve had many, many fantastic nights at that table.
