How long have you been coming here? Since I moved to the area, so about two years.

What do you love about it- what keeps you coming back? Many things, the relaxed atmosphere, the very friendly staff who give table service for drinks. If you need to reserve an area, or hold an event there they will bend over backwards to help you! It is also the only Bring Your Own Food pub that i know in the area, and they welcome you bringing takeaway or ordering pizza to the pub.

Where do you usually sit? Depends what size group I am there with, but I am fond of the red sofas near the window.

What do you usually drink? With 300 beers available this is a difficult decision, and usually go for one of the local Rebellion or XT beers on tap, although am also fond of the Cornish Orchards cider.

What sort of crowd drink here? You often get people who have come straight from work for a few drinks, week nights there are various social groups that meet there, so you can often see people knitting together, or playing board games, or discussing big ideas. At the weekends they show the rugby and this brings in a lively but well behaved crowd.

Do you think pubs still have a place in today’s society? Yes, more so than ever. Pubs, even when I started going less than 20 years ago used to be smoky and unwelcoming places with sticky carpets, but modern pubs provide so many functions. Where more and more of us are living in smaller flats and unable to invite people over they provide a space we can meet friends or hold events.
