Name: Maurice Hawes
Age: 77
From: High Wycombe
Pub: Hour Glass in Sands
How long have you been coming here? Since 1956. It’s my local pub, the company is good, we have a good old natter about everything. It’s a good pub.
What do you drink? John Smiths.
Where do you sit? I always sit at the bar. There used to be a post next to where I sit, which I used to lean on. So when it was taken out, I took it home and it’s at my house.
Any funny stories over the past 57 years? Back in 1998 there used to be three bars in here. A mate of mine was sat in one of them by himself waiting for a pint and he got a tap on the shoulder - but there was no-one there, no-one in the bar at all. It was the Hour Glass ghost, we say.
What’s the landlord like? Smashing, really good and they’re bringing in food soon so I’ll be eating here.
