Pub: The Belle Vue, Gordon Road, High Wycombe

Name: Chris Blackwell

Age: 36

From: High Wycombe

Why do you love this pub? It’s got live music on every week, and I can’t afford to go to Wembley every week to watch bands so it’s good to have it on your doorstep. Wycombe’s got a great musical heritage and with places like the Nags Head closing down, which has seen huge bands playing there over the years, it’s important to have local music venues like this. I’m a musician myself and play here for the open mic nights and it’s always packed out. The pub is always welcoming, and the landlord Alan Hedgecock is a good guy and very friendly.

Any special memories of the pub? This was the first place I ever played actually, with my old band years ago, so it’s sort of a spiritual home for me.

What do you drink? Coke usually, or a j20 if I’m feeling adventurous. They have a great selection of beers here, but as someone who doesn’t drink, I don’t really benefit from that!

Where do you normally sit? It gets pretty busy at the weekends, especially when the bands are on so I usually just stand wherever I can get a space! The beer garden is lovely during the summer though and a good place to relax.
