How long have you been coming here? I’ve been coming here for about three years, I’m Marlow born and bred and I’ve been the club secretary for a year.

Why did you first start coming to the club? I was asked by the club secretary at the time to come down because of my involvement with organising beer festivals, and now we have three a year down here and this is our ninth one. I was already a member of the Legion, and I came down here and got on really well with everyone and got invited to be on the committee.

What’s special about the beer festivals? There’s a good range of beers and it’s been good to come here and get to know the customers and the members. Normally it is a members club but we have three four-day beer festivals a year when anyone can come. There are beers from all over the country and some you just can’t get anywhere else round here. It’s important to keep the Legion successful so it’s as much about outside customers and money as well as the members.

What else makes the place special? It’s a great place to be in summer, we have a bouncy castle and an outside bar.Lots of people are able to come down from out of town because it’s so near the train station. We won the CAMRA club of the year for our district and we’ve also just been awarded a national award for our fundraising after being put forward by the county.
